DPD (UK) + ReturnMate

BetaThis integration is production-deployed and merchant-usable today. We're still expanding feature coverage and may iterate on behaviour as we learn from real usage. No service interruptions are expected.

DPD is one of the dominant UK parcel networks and a common primary carrier for UK Shopify merchants. ReturnMate connects to the DPD UK API for label generation (PDF and thermal), automatic collection booking, and tracking. Newly released in Beta — this integration targets the UK network specifically; DPD's continental European businesses run separate country APIs and are on the roadmap.

§ 01 — Capabilities

What the DPD (UK) connection actually does.

  • DPD UK labels via the geo-API — PDF for laser printers, EPL for thermal
  • Next Day, Two Day, and Expresspak network services
  • Collections booked automatically from the shipment's collection date — no separate pickup step
  • Self-serve collection-day selection in the portal
  • Tracking sync mapped onto the RMA timeline
  • Shipment cancellation directly from the RMA
§ 02 — In practice

Where it earns its place.

UK-resident merchants

For UK merchants, DPD covers the bulk of domestic return volume with courier collection from the customer's address. The collection date is chosen in the portal and the shipment carries it — no phone calls, no separate booking.

Faulty-item collections

For warranty returns where the customer shouldn't have to lug a heavy or awkward item to a drop-off point, DPD's driver collection is the low-friction path.

Thermal label printing

Warehouse teams running thermal printers get EPL-format labels alongside PDF, straight through ReturnMate's print-client workflow.

§ 03 — Setup

How DPD (UK) gets connected.

Carrier accounts are set up by our team, not by you. We contact DPD (UK) directly, obtain API access against your existing commercial account, and apply it — so you never have to source or handle API credentials.

  1. You send us three things

Your existing DPD (UK) account number, written authority for ReturnMate to contact them on your behalf, and your account manager's name, email and phone number.

  2. We contact DPD (UK)

Our support team requests API access against your account and handles the paperwork and technical back-and-forth with the carrier.

  3. We apply the credentials

Credentials are stored encrypted against your shop. They are never shown to you and never need to be — there is nothing for you to paste or maintain.

  4. We test it end to end

We generate a test label — including the dangerous goods transport document where it applies — and confirm it works before the carrier goes live for your team.

Turnaround varies by carrier, depending on how quickly they issue API access. Support confirms the expected timeline for DPD (UK) when you start onboarding. Don't have an account with them yet? We can help you set one up.

§ FAQ

Questions about DPD (UK).

What does Beta mean for DPD?

The integration is deployed and available to connect today — labels, collections, cancellation, and tracking are wired end-to-end against the DPD UK API. Beta means it's newly released and still accumulating real-world merchant mileage; run a test shipment on your own account before going live.

Does this cover DPD in Germany, France, or other EU markets?

Not yet. DPD (Geopost) runs separate national APIs per market; this integration is the UK network. For EU-resident merchants today, GLS, PostNL, DHL Parcel (Germany), InPost, and DHL Express cover most routing needs, and additional DPD country networks are on the roadmap.

Does DPD support dangerous goods?

Not through ReturnMate. DG-flagged SKUs are automatically routed to a DG-capable carrier and DPD is blocked for those shipments.

Are DPD Pickup Points supported?

Not yet — the current integration books driver collections and standard deliveries. Pickup Point drop-off selection is on the Beta-expansion roadmap.
