DPD + ReturnMate

Coming SoonThis integration is on the public roadmap and not yet implemented. The capabilities described below are planned. Register interest below to be notified the moment it ships, and to influence roadmap priority.

DPD (a Geopost subsidiary, in turn owned by La Poste France) is one of the dominant pan-European parcel networks, particularly strong in Germany, France, and the UK. Many Shopify merchants in those markets use DPD as their primary parcel carrier alongside DHL. ReturnMate's DPD integration is on the roadmap — once shipped, it will give European merchants a direct route for inbound returns through DPD Classic and DPD Express services with the Predict 1-hour delivery window experience customers know.

§ 01 — Capabilities

What the integration does.

  • Planned: DPD Classic + DPD Express labels across DE, FR, UK, and 25+ other European markets
  • Planned: Predict 1-hour delivery window notifications surfaced in the portal
  • Planned: 58,000+ Pickup Point drop-off network across Europe
  • Planned: Live rate quoting and pickup booking
  • Planned: Tracking sync via DPD's push notification API
  • Planned: EU customs documentation for cross-border movements
§ 02 — Use cases

How merchants use it.

EU-resident merchants

Once shipped, DPD will be a default option for German, French, UK, and broader EU-resident merchants on ReturnMate. DPD Classic covers most domestic and cross-border European return volume cost-effectively.

Pickup Point drop-off

DPD's 58,000+ Pickup Point network across Europe is one of the densest drop-off options for customers who don't want to wait for a courier collection. The roadmapped integration will surface the closest Pickup Point directly from the customer portal.

Cross-border EU returns

For merchants serving multiple EU markets, DPD's pan-European network simplifies returns onto a single carrier and label format. Useful complement (or alternative) to DHL for EU-only operations.

§ 03 — Roadmap

Be the first to know when DPD ships.

Register your interest and we'll notify you the moment the integration is live. Merchant demand directly influences roadmap priority — every registered interest moves it forward.

§ 04 — FAQ

Questions about DPD.

When will the DPD integration be available?

No firm public date yet — the timing depends on merchant demand and the priority of competing roadmap items. Registering your interest moves the priority forward and gets you notified the moment it ships.

Should I use DPD or DHL for European returns?

DPD is generally cheaper for domestic and cross-border EU non-DG parcels under 30kg. DHL Express wins on time-definite international and DG capability. Many EU merchants run both and rate-shop. ReturnMate will surface both at the customer portal once both integrations are live.

Does DPD support dangerous goods?

Limited support — DPD accepts some Class 9 (miscellaneous) goods including small lithium batteries installed in devices, but standalone batteries and most other DG classes are restricted. For DG returns from EU markets at meaningful volume, DHL Express will be the better routing once available.

Can I use DPD with ReturnMate today?

Not natively. UK and EU merchants with active operations today are using ReturnMate's REST API to bridge a custom DPD integration; the roadmapped native integration will remove that custom work.
