Carriers integration

Royal Mail + ReturnMate

Coming SoonThis integration is on the public roadmap and not yet implemented. The capabilities described below are planned. Register interest below to be notified the moment it ships, and to influence roadmap priority.

Royal Mail is the default carrier for UK domestic returns and the cost-effective option for outbound international from the UK. ReturnMate's Royal Mail integration is on the roadmap — once shipped, it will support label generation, live rate quoting, and tracking across Royal Mail's domestic and international services. Register your interest below to be notified when it goes live.

§ 01 — Capabilities

What the integration does.

  • Planned: UK domestic labels — Tracked 24, Tracked 48, Special Delivery, Signed For
  • Planned: International outbound — International Tracked, International Standard
  • Planned: Live rate quoting at the customer portal
  • Planned: Address validation with UK postcode standardisation
  • Planned: Tracking sync via Royal Mail's API
  • Planned: Drop-off at any of 11,500+ Post Office and Royal Mail Customer Service Points
§ 02 — Use cases

How merchants use it.

UK-resident merchants

Once shipped, Royal Mail will be the default carrier for UK-resident merchants on ReturnMate. Tracked 24 and Tracked 48 cover the vast majority of UK domestic return volume cost-effectively.

UK to EU returns

For UK merchants serving EU customers, Royal Mail International Tracked is competitive against private couriers for sub-2kg parcels. Customs documentation will be generated automatically post-Brexit.

Drop-off network

Royal Mail's Post Office network is the largest in the UK, with 11,500+ locations including supermarkets and convenience stores. Customers will be able to find their nearest drop-off directly from the portal.

§ 03 — Roadmap

Be the first to know when Royal Mail ships.

Register your interest and we'll notify you the moment the integration is live. Merchant demand directly influences roadmap priority — every registered interest moves it forward.

§ 04 — FAQ

Questions about Royal Mail.

When will the Royal Mail integration be available?

No firm public date yet — the timing depends on merchant demand and the priority of competing roadmap items. Registering your interest moves the priority forward and gets you notified the moment it ships.

Can I use Royal Mail with ReturnMate today?

Not directly. UK merchants with active operations today are using ReturnMate's REST API to bridge a custom Royal Mail integration; the roadmapped native integration will remove that custom work. In the meantime, FedEx (international) covers UK merchants with non-domestic returns.

Will Royal Mail integration support DG?

Royal Mail has restrictive DG rules — most lithium batteries and Class 9 items can't be shipped via standard Royal Mail products. The roadmapped integration will route DG returns via the merchant's preferred international carrier (FedEx or DHL once available) instead.
