StarTrack + ReturnMate
StarTrack (operated by Australia Post) is our go-to DG-capable carrier for items under 22kg. ReturnMate integrates with the eParcel API to generate labels, produce ADG-compliant transport documents, and apply DG surcharges transparently.
What the StarTrack connection actually does.
- eParcel label creation with DG support
- Transport documents prepared to the ADG Code (Edition 7.9)
- DG surcharge application with merchant visibility
- Tracking sync via eParcel API
- Service code selection per shop (EXP, PR, etc.)
- Automatic routing for DG items under 22kg from ReturnMate's DG catalogue
Where it earns its place.
Lithium battery returns
Customer returns a 10kg portable power station. ReturnMate detects the SKU is on the shop's DG catalogue, routes the shipment to StarTrack, applies the DG surcharge, and generates both the shipping label and the ADG-compliant transport document.
Premium freight for heavy non-DG
For non-DG items where AusPost would be slow, StarTrack EXP service gets the return to the warehouse faster with the same branded-label experience.
PAC pricing for inbound returns
StarTrack PAC (Parcel Avoider Consumer) rate is available for inbound customer returns. Configured with your AusPost MyPost Business API key since StarTrack uses AusPost credentials for PAC.
How StarTrack gets connected.
Carrier accounts are set up by our team, not by you. We contact StarTrack directly, obtain API access against your existing commercial account, and apply it — so you never have to source or handle API credentials.
- You send us three things
Your existing StarTrack account number, written authority for ReturnMate to contact them on your behalf, and your account manager's name, email and phone number.
- We contact StarTrack
Our support team requests API access against your account and handles the paperwork and technical back-and-forth with the carrier.
- We apply the credentials
Credentials are stored encrypted against your shop. They are never shown to you and never need to be — there is nothing for you to paste or maintain.
- We test it end to end
We generate a test label — including the dangerous goods transport document where it applies — and confirm it works before the carrier goes live for your team.
Turnaround varies by carrier, depending on how quickly they issue API access. Support confirms the expected timeline for StarTrack when you start onboarding. Don't have an account with them yet? We can help you set one up.
Questions about StarTrack.
Does StarTrack handle all DG classes?
StarTrack accepts most commonly-shipped DG classes (lithium batteries, aerosols, flammable liquids in limited quantities). Class 1 (explosives), 7 (radioactive), and some class 6.2 (infectious) are excluded. ReturnMate blocks unsupported classes at the rating step.
What if my item is DG and over 22kg?
ReturnMate routes heavier DG shipments to TNT (FedEx), which has higher-weight DG capability. The merchant doesn't need to know — the routing is automatic based on weight + DG status.
Are transport documents kept for compliance?
Yes. Every ADG transport document generated is archived in S3 and linked from the RMA detail page, so you have the compliance record for 3+ years.
