InPost + ReturnMate

BetaThis integration is production-deployed and merchant-usable today. We're still expanding feature coverage and may iterate on behaviour as we learn from real usage. No service interruptions are expected.

InPost's locker network (Paczkomat) is the densest in Poland and growing fast in the UK — and lockers are a genuinely good returns experience: the customer drops the parcel any time, no queue, no printer in many cases. ReturnMate connects to the InPost ShipX API for locker and courier shipments, labels, tracking, and courier dispatch orders. Newly released in Beta.

§ 01 — Capabilities

What the InPost connection actually does.

  • Locker (Paczkomat) and courier services via the ShipX API
  • Poland and UK network selection per carrier account
  • Labels fetched as PDF straight into the portal and admin
  • Courier collection via dispatch orders with self-serve day selection
  • Tracking sync mapped onto the RMA timeline
  • Shipment cancellation from the RMA
§ 02 — In practice

Where it earns its place.

Locker drop-off returns

Customers drop returns at any InPost locker 24/7 — no counter hours, no queue. For PL merchants this is the default returns experience customers already expect.

Courier collection when lockers don't fit

Oversized or fragile items book as courier shipments with collection ordered for the chosen day via a dispatch order.

UK locker expansion

UK merchants riding InPost's growing locker footprint can run it alongside Royal Mail and DPD, with the same RMA workflow behind all three.

§ 03 — Setup

How InPost gets connected.

Carrier accounts are set up by our team, not by you. We contact InPost directly, obtain API access against your existing commercial account, and apply it — so you never have to source or handle API credentials.

  1. You send us three things

Your existing InPost account number, written authority for ReturnMate to contact them on your behalf, and your account manager's name, email and phone number.

  2. We contact InPost

Our support team requests API access against your account and handles the paperwork and technical back-and-forth with the carrier.

  3. We apply the credentials

Credentials are stored encrypted against your shop. They are never shown to you and never need to be — there is nothing for you to paste or maintain.

  4. We test it end to end

We generate a test label — including the dangerous goods transport document where it applies — and confirm it works before the carrier goes live for your team.

Turnaround varies by carrier, depending on how quickly they issue API access. Support confirms the expected timeline for InPost when you start onboarding. Don't have an account with them yet? We can help you set one up.

§ FAQ

Questions about InPost.

What does Beta mean for InPost?

The integration is deployed and available to connect today. Beta means it's newly released and still accumulating real-world merchant mileage; test on the ShipX sandbox before going live.

Why does label generation sometimes take a few seconds?

ShipX creates shipments asynchronously — InPost prices and confirms the offer server-side before the tracking number exists. ReturnMate handles the wait automatically and returns the label as soon as InPost confirms, usually within seconds.

How is the locker chosen for a locker shipment?

Locker services need a target locker point supplied per shipment. Automatic nearest-locker selection in the customer portal is on the Beta-expansion roadmap; today the locker point is set when the label is generated.

Does InPost support dangerous goods?

No — DG-flagged SKUs are automatically routed to a DG-capable carrier and InPost is blocked for those shipments.
